You want a list of Kingston’s best pizza? Fine.

But first, you need to know that Uptown’s St. James Street backs up on a Tuesday like a clogged synapse, so bring your patience.

We ranged from the crackling bar pie at Sorry, Charlie to the brewery-adjacent pies at Kingston Standard, and one joint ruined us for all others. Shots were called on thin-crust versus chewy, and split pies were mandated.

Slice up and go.

Best bar pie ever
Crispy, unforgettable crust
Clean, unpretentious atmosphere
Worth the wait
Staff friendly, attentive

I walked into Sorry, Charlie expecting a quick slice and a quiet corner. What I got was the best bar pie I've had in years. The crust is thin, charred in all the right places, and so crisp it crackles before you even bite down. The atmosphere is clean and unpretentious, like a place that knows exactly what it is and doesn't care to apologize. Service is friendly and attentive, pulling off the rare trick of making you feel like a regular on your first visit. Yes, there's a wait, and yes, it's worth it. That crust alone is worth the patience.

Artful Gilroy craftsmanship
Fast, friendly service
Amazing, tempting selection

Black Garlik Pizza Co. doesn't hide its ambition. The counter is stacked with an amazing, tempting selection of pies, each one looking better than the last. The craftsmanship here is artful, Lefty-smooth, the kind of careful work you'd expect from a place named after a garlic variety. I ordered a few slices, and the staff had them to me fast, with a friendly ease that makes you want to hang around. This might be the best pizza in town, and I say that without hesitation. The crust has that perfect chew, the sauce sings, and the toppings are generous. Just go.

Split pizzas, double the options
Staff recommendations are spot-on
Garlic knots are legitimately elite
Chicken parm and lasagna shine
Casual charm, easy repeat visits

Enzo's is the pizza equivalent of a comfortable pair of shoes, if those shoes came with garlic knots that could end a war. The split pizza option is a genius move, doubling your chances of ordering right. The staff's recommendations are spot-on, steering me toward a white pie that I'm still thinking about. The chicken parm and lasagna are both legitimately strong, but the garlic knots are the real crown jewel, doughy, buttery, and dusted with enough garlic to keep vampires away for a decade. It's casual, charming, and the kind of place you'll find yourself returning to, not for novelty, but for reliability. Easy repeat visits, indeed.

Pizza perfect every time

Di Bella's is the quiet, reliable veteran of Kingston's pizza scene. I ordered a plain slice and a pepperoni, and both came out perfect. The crust has that ideal balance of crisp and give, the sauce is tangy without being aggressive, and the cheese melts into a golden, stretchy blanket. It's not flashy, no gimmicks, just pizza done right, every single time. The staff is efficient, the room is unpretentious, and you're in and out without fuss. Some places try to reinvent the wheel. Di Bella's just makes sure the wheel rolls smoothly, and that's a beautiful thing. This is the pizza you crave on a random Tuesday.

Best turkey hoagie around
Add pesto, reach heaven
Chill back room games
Fantastic Tofu Sambal Bahn
Great pastries and seating

Camp Kingston is a little pocket of chaos, but the good kind. I came for the pizza, but I stayed for the turkey hoagie, which is the best around, loaded and messy and perfect. Add pesto to it and you're basically in heaven, no joke. The tofu sambal bahn is a fantastic surprise, spicy, savory, and textured, and the back room offers board games and a chilled-out vibe that makes you forget the time. The pastries are great, and the seating is comfortable enough for a long afternoon. It's not a pizza spot, but when you're here, you won't miss it. Just order the hoagie and thank me later.

Scratch-made pizzas, cold beer
Oysters, pretzels, lobster rolls
Welcoming staff, plenty space
Sunday board game days

Kingston Standard Brewing Co. is a brewery that happens to make scratch-made pizza, and that's a dangerous combination. The pies are hefty, chewy, and topped with care, the kind of pizza you want after a long hike or a hard week. They also do oysters, pretzels, and lobster rolls, so you can pivot if you're not in a pizza mood. The staff is welcoming, the space is huge, and there's a Sunday board game day that sounds dangerously fun. Cold beer, warm pretzels, and a slice of pizza with a friend, that's the formula. Bring your appetite and your patience, because you might not want to leave.

Homemade pasta worth every minute
Slow dining forces real conversation
Love is an ingredient here

Graziano's Downtown Cafe feels like walking into someone's grandmother's kitchen, if that grandmother was a Michelin-starred chef with a heavy hand with garlic. The chef cooks right before your eyes, a small kitchen theater that makes you appreciate every dish even more. The homemade pasta is worth every minute of waiting, and you will wait, because this is slow dining, the kind that forces real conversation between bites. The lasagna is a slab of comfort, the sauce tastes like it's been simmering for a generation. Love is an ingredient here, and you can taste it. It's not fast, but it's honest, and that's rare. Bring a friend and some time.

Rough Draft Bar & Books is a bookstore, a coffee shop, and a community living room all rolled into one. The historic brick building keeps the cold out, and the shelves are stuffed with books you can actually browse and borrow, no purchase required. I grabbed a chai, which is affordable, and settled into a community table, where a stranger shared his fries and a story about his dog. The coffee is good, the pastries are solid, and the character of the place is undeniable. It's not a pizza destination, but if you're wandering Kingston, this is a warm, welcoming pit stop. Conversation is the real main course here.

Breakfast and lunch excellence
Friendly service, quick turnaround
Ring of Fire coffee standout
Foil wrap, no plastic waste
Indoor and outdoor seating

Sissy's Cafe is a breakfast and lunch institution, and it earns that title with every foil-wrapped sandwich. The Ring of Fire coffee is a standout, bold and slightly spicy, just the thing to wake you up. Service is friendly and fast, a rare combo that keeps the line moving without making you feel rushed. I tried the breakfast burrito and it was a mess of eggs, cheese, and sautéed onions, all wrapped up like a gift. They use foil instead of plastic, which is a small but welcome touch. There's seating inside and out, so you can enjoy your coffee with a view. Quick, honest, and good. That's the whole pitch.

Lobster pasta worth returning for
Warm, quick, friendly service
Beautiful indoor and outdoor seating

sonder is the quiet professional here, the place that turns out fresh pasta with a precision that borders on spiritual. My lobster pasta was al dente, tossed in a light, buttery sauce that let the sweet meat shine. It's the kind of dish you'd cross town for, and I would. The service is warm, quick, and friendly, which is impressive in a spot that clearly takes its food seriously. The indoor and outdoor seating are both beautiful, the kind of spaces that make you want to linger. I almost didn't want to finish my plate, because then it would be over. But I did, and I'd do it again tomorrow. Worth every penny.

Short rib pasta delivers
Juicy chicken, creamed kale
Vegetable prep shows skill
Date-night friendly atmosphere

Eliza is the kind of place you bring someone you want to impress, then spend the whole meal talking about the food instead of them. The oysters are briny and cold, the cocktails are sharp and well-balanced, and the short rib pasta is a heavy hitter, rich and deeply satisfying. My chicken arrived juicy, resting on creamed kale that made me question why anyone eats any other green. The vegetable prep shows real skill, nothing an afterthought. It's a date-night atmosphere that doesn't try too hard, which is exactly the right kind. Service is warm, but not hovering. I left full, happy, and already planning the return.

Chaat with potato pea samosas
House-made nacho chips
Birthday catering for chefs
Textures and flavors on-point
Best meals of the weekend

Samosa Shack wins the weekend award, and not just because the chaat comes loaded with potato pea samosas that nail every texture on the plate. The house-made nacho chips are sturdy enough to hold whatever you pile on, which is good because you'll pile a lot. The flavors are bold, bright, and unforgivingly on-point, a dance of crunch, spice, and tang. I heard they catered a birthday party for chefs, which tells you everything about the credibility here. These were the best meals of my weekend, hands down. I ate twice in one day. No regrets. Just more samosas.
